The papers consist chiefly of correspondence and include letters of Mrs. Elizabeth Swetland to her son-in-law Henry Livingston Webb concerning family health, schooling in Albany, and religious beliefs, 1834-1846, with comments on Plattsburgh events; letters of William Swetland to his wife and children concerning family visits, traveling, and religion, 1834-1848; family letters to Mr. and Mrs. Swetland about business, travel, living conditions, and social life in Plattsburgh and Albany, and the health and development of his daughter Frances Delord Webb, 1834-1846; letters of Mrs. Swetland to Frances Delord Webb about religion, social life in Plattsburgh, friends, and family, 1839-1862; and letters to William Swetland from Henry L. Webb, John Webb, and Alfred Douglas about business and family concerns, 1830-1865. Other items include the last will and testament of William Swetland and Elizabeth Delord Swetland, and miscellaneous papers of Frances Delord Webb Hall as administratrix of the Swetland estate.
